I celebrated two birthdays this weekend--the first with Valine and the second with Mimi. Valine's favorite way to spend her birthday is antiquing (is that a word?) in Canton and I love any opportunity to join in. So she and a friend drove up on Friday and picked me up. We stopped in Longview on the way and took in the new Matthew McConaughey movie, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". It was good, mindless entertainment.
Saturday, we awoke to overcast skies and fields of antique vendors. We shopped, met some Roundtop friends for lunch and finished in time to pack up the car before the showers began. Since we were also packing up Valine's purchases from Roundtop that had been too large to carry back on a plane (a glass-front bookshelf, metal garden cart and tole' trays), things were tricky. We ended up having to strap the metal gate that Troy bought on the roof of the car, but were able to fit everything else inside, to our surprise. (that's my plumbago surrounding Valine in the backseat---isn't that the prettiest color?)
Of course, there wasn't much room to spare, but we had such a good time.
Today is my mother-in-law's birthday. Kay was passing through town, so she and I took Mimi out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, TacoMania (that certainly is NOT on Weight Watchers---oh well). She is now 83 years young!!
Hooray for birthdays!
