This morning I got up early and joined the three thousand or so other people participating in the Firecracker 5K. While some ran, I walked the streets of South Highlands with a friend and enjoyed the homes, the neighbors lined up along the streets, the small flags passed out on street corners, and the occasional sprinkler set to douse the participants. We finished the race in 54 minutes, which is not too terrible considering the clock had been running for several minutes before we even made it through the "start gate". Following the race, we took our sweaty selves to Strawn's for a good old diner breakfast! Yum!!
