Thank GOODNESS for the Tiffen UV filter I had over the lens. This could be a promotion for them---the filter shattered, but fortunately, the lens underneath was just fine!!! Let this be a public service announcement: If you don't already have a filter on your lens, go get one NOW!! The filters cost between $10-20. A new lens would cost $750 or more!!
Now, I just need to order a new filter!
