Yard Work

Slowly, I have been working on spiffing up my backyard again.  At the beginning of last summer, you might remember me blogging something very similar, but then, the infamous trip to Yosemite came along and knocked me out of all yard work for months and months.   As my injuries have healed and the rehab seems to be coming to an end, I've decided to give it a try again.  There are some things I'll need to hire help to do, but I'm tackling some of the smaller things.   I don't have any true "before" photos, but this one is "in process". Like this: Last weekend, I pulled out the various galvanized containers I purchased at Canton last summer and set to work restoring my herb garden.

I planted several different kinds of herbs, including rosemary, mint and oregano.  I even tucked a few sweet potato vines into my old wheelbarrow.

I started some basil seeds in my kitchen window since all the plants were sold out.  I never have much luck with seeds, but maybe this will be my lucky year.  I'd also like to add some cilantro, since that is another herb that I actually enjoy using in salsa and such.

It has turned out pretty nice and I look forward to the plants filling out enough to harvest a few!  I just read this great article on raising herbs, recommended by Elise.

Looking good! As I bought fresh herbs at the grocery store today, I thought it might be time to try my hand at an herb garden once again.
