Another First Weekend

It has become our tradition over the years, to celebrate Valine's birthday with a trip to Canton.  Last year, I had a conflict that weekend, but this year was able to keep the weekend clear and she drove up to celebrate after a busy Friday.  We grilled quesadillas and enjoyed Sangria out on the deck together . . .
Followed by candles and red velvet cake.
Saturday morning, the two of us awoke early and we headed to Canton, leaving Ron snoozing at home. We stopped at Collins Street Bakery, near Lindale for a much-needed bathroom break and some delicious goodies.

The weather was absolutely perfect for Canton---actually, it was perfect for just about anything!
We strolled along at a leisurely pace, and enjoying being together.  This trip was so relaxed.  With many of the same things that we see over and over at Canton, we found ourselves with more time to just relax and visit.   I've seen this big hippo before, but it was in a different vendor's hands this time.
Sent this picture to Callie, but she wasn't too interested in a vintage diaper pail---even though it says it is easy to clean.

We ate typical "festival food"---yummy, but horribly unhealthy.
We browsed and talked and laughed and had a wonderful time.
Our "haul" might not have been as heavy as some visits, but the time we spent together was priceless!

Once we got back to Shreveport, we felt the need for something that was a little more healthy than pecan brittle and kettle corn, so we stopped at Jason's for a salad.
Of course, all good things must come to an end, so after Ron left for his first tri of the season, Valine packed up her car and headed home.   Thoreau said it well --  "The language of friendship is not words, but meanings".

P. S.   The first triathlon of the season was a tough one.  I came home from church to find this.
P. S. S.   I don't know about "cool", but we will definitely be "fun".
