Weekend In New England---Final Day

Our last day in Albany was scheduled to be Monday, but as we sat at Starbucks enjoying our last few minutes before heading to the airport, I got a phone call from Delta telling me that our flight had some changes.  Upon further investigation, I learned that the changes affected our connections in Atlanta and therefore we would not be able to leave until the next day.  We were pretty bummed out at first, but decided that if we were to be stuck an extra day, then we should make the most of it.  David suggested we borrow his car and drive up to john Boyd Thacher State Park, a short distance away.  We were so glad we did!  It ended up being my very favorite part of the trip.

It was cold at the top of the Helderburg Encarpment, so we shivered through our picnic lunch before beginning the hike on the Indian Ladder Trail.  To say it was beautiful is such an understatement.  It was fun and pretty and very romantic as we hiked the trail, stopping to take photos and enjoy the stunning fall colors surrounding us.  The trail takes you under 2 waterfalls.  We hiked to one end, climbed the ladder to the top, and after resting for a while, decided to hike it back again to our vehicle.

We took our time driving back, exploring the back roads heading back to Albany.  It was the perfect ending to a great trip!
