Ready!

I'm ready! I made a trip to Michael's yesterday and picked up these fun new papers to use in my "Week In The Life" album. For some reason, having the papers picked out helps get me in the creating mood and reminds me to take pictures.

At the last Camp Crop-A-Lot, Catha gave me some great embellishments---the sparkly ones and the chipboard letters. I think they'll be perfect with the papers. (I got the flowers in the $1 bin at Michael's).
I've got file folders and envelopes ready to drop receipts, brochures, and other momentos into.
And you may remember this pretty journal I won from Rebecca Sower?
I think I'll use it to jot down each day's events. Last night I made a few extra tags and journaling cards. If you like them, you can click here to download them for printing. It's not too late to join Valine, Jana and I and begin documenting a week in YOUR life! :-)

Week In The Life Revisted

Back in the spring, I participated in Ali Edwards' "Week In The Life" project, along with Valine. It ended up being a really crazy week, and I didn't get to do nearly as much as I'd hoped. But in the end, as I put together my album, it all came together. Valine and I ended up with such different albums, although we documented the same exact week.

We had so much fun doing that back in the spring, but we decided it would be fun to document a week during another season as well. Therefore, we have declared next week (October 24-30) to be "Week In The Life--Fall". Next week, we will take photos of our everyday activities, jot notes on scraps of paper, save receipts and souvenirs in order to document a week in the fall of 2010. It's really simple---we'll just gather the items and our thoughts next week and try to put it all together into an album when we have a little more time.

A Week In The Life

Back in April, I participated in the Week In the Life scrapbook project that Ali Edwards hosted. It turned out to be the very busiest week of the entire school year, so I found that I wasn't able to completely record things as I'd hoped to do. But, nevertheless, I decided to put it all together into a scrapbook this past weekend.
Valine also participated in the challenge and worked on her scrapbook this weekend, too.
(obviously Strudel liked the book alot!!)

Since we don't see each other that often, this was the first chance we'd had to "compare notes" and compare how and what we recorded. Here are a few of Valine's layouts:

I love how she took pictures of the bags she took to school each day---purses, book bags, etc. --since they really tell a story about what she's doing each day. And, Valine took a photo of a headline depicting news of the Gulf Oil Spill, never dreaming that it would become such a disaster news event.

We are both so glad that we did this challenge and plan to do it again later this year---perhaps a different season since that one was in the spring. Having completed one book, I have some ideas about how to better document things that happen and things to collect. We're thinking of doing the next one sometime in October---Wanna' want to join us?

Cajun Croppin'

I just got back from Memory Mania's scrapbook retreat. It was so much fun, with great friends to crop with, eat with and laugh with!
I was able to completely finish my Week In The Life book that I began back in April (more on that later), as well as one about my vacation to Nantucket. The theme this year was Cajun Croppin' and Catha made an awesome table decoration for us, complete with tiny scrappers in retreat t-shirts!
Catha got the award for completing the most layouts---she did TONS of prep work in order to get ready. Valine and I were not far behind, with almost 40 layouts each.
Not too shabby for only a few days of preparation!

Week In The Life

Wow, what a week it has been. It seems like I've been up to my eyeballs in work and I don't see any signs of it letting up any time soon! I began the week with great intentions of taking lots of pictures, but now I'm just trying to jot down a few memories and snap a few photos here and there. After all, this is supposed to document what a typical week is really like, isn't it? Here are few snapshots of my life so far.

And some beautiful flowers in my neighbors yard this afternoon. I LOVE peonies and it's so rare to find them in this area. I think that I may have to plant some!

Gearing Up

I'm gearing up---ready for the challenge of next week's "Week In The Life" project with Ali Edwards. Yesterday evening I spent a little time picking out paper from my stash and designing some accents to go with the project. I'm going to be making an 8.5" x 11" album and remembered this paper from My Mind's Eye that I purchased a few months back and haven't yet used---perfect for this!


Ali uses a combination of regular page protectors and baseball card protectors and I like that idea, but since I still have some of these photo refill pages for 3.5" x 5" photos, I think I'll use these instead---one for each day.


Finally, I designed some journal cards to use as I jot down thoughts.


These should just fit into the photo slots on the refill pages. Since I haven't done this before, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted them to say, but decided on a few key phrases. I also made some tags with quotes, phrases and the dates on them that I can use for embellishments.
