27/52 - M4H Project 52

The theme this week was "Morning" and I happened upon a beautiful sunrise on my way home from my Wednesday morning workout.  Since I hadn't planned to take pictures during this time, the only thing I had with me was my phone, but I just went ahead and snapped a picture anyway.  With the Red River still swollen beyond its banks, the glow of the sun was reflected in the water.

I spent the next day with baby D and we went on a morning walk before it got too hot to be outdoors.  While far from a perfect photo, it certainly captured our time together that morning.

Look Up

September SNAPS 2014 - Day 2 - LOOK UP

As I LOOKED UP while writing this, I could see the kitchen ceiling of Jana's kitchen.  However, if I moved a few feet back, looking up gave me a completely different view---going up the stairway with light streaming in through a window on the second level.   Even that view changed depending on where I stood.  

If I moved a few steps in the opposite direction and looked up, I could see a cloud-filled sky through her glass patio doors.  

Sometimes, the slightest movement or change in our thought pattern opens up a whole new perspective through which we can view things.    

Today, try LOOKING UP.  What do you see?  Clouds, trees, architectural features?  Is it time to move over a little to take a look at things in a different way.

Mornings On the Deck

Once school begins again (next week), I'm going to miss my mornings on the deck most of all!  I know that I could get up earlier to be able to spend the same time, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.  So in the meantime, I'm going to soak up the calm and the sunshine and enjoy!

I received my Expodisc in the mail the other day.  

I've been relying on a coffee filter or Photoshop post-processing for my white balance.  I'm hoping this will be an improvement on that.  It definitely was for these pictures---I only cropped them.

Freshening Up

I thought it was time to freshen up here on the blog.  Let me know if you encounter any problems with the new blog design.  I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of that shadow that is on each side of the window, but until then, I'm enjoying the new summery feel.

Round Robin - Color Blind

Playing with Photoshop is fun---in fact, it could become an obsession for me, if I allowed it. The challenge for Round Robin this time is : Colorblind---basically, take a photo of something, change the color...make it interesting! The other photographers have some interesting entries---the linking list is over here.

The first is a photo of a Hibiscus I took this summer.

This one is of some flowers outside of my office (they are a soft yellow in real life).

And this one is my favorite---in fact, I think it would be kind of neat on a canvas hanging in my house!

Photo Fun

After getting the pumpkin patch pictures printed, I decided that I wanted to do something a little more special than just sending home the photos. Seeing Ali Edward's free Halloween digital download inspired me to make a mount for the photos. I also downloaded the free fall Photoshop brushes over at Brusheezy.
This is what I came up with:

I printed them out on white cardstock and used an exacto knife to cut partway around the pumpkins to make corners for the photos. (excuse the stacks of laundry on the couch)

Voila'!!
